The witching season is upon us! It's hard not to participate, ghouls, ghosts and goblin games are everywhere!

We picked a pack of perfect pumpkins, And tagged a terrific turkey for next month's table!
After getting our pumpkins from Blocks Farm Market we headed over to The Huron Turkey Farm for cider, doughnuts and to check out this years Thanksgiving dinner!

We were ghosted! In the middle of the night, the night before, There was a loud knock at the door, We slowing got up to see what was the fuss, Only to find a big bag of stuff!
Ghosting is a game Pagan Center plays. A member will sneak up and anonymously leave a bag of tricks and treats on someones front door at night, knock really loud and run away! The tradition continues as you have to ghost two other members after you have been ghosted!
This is what we got! Angelus loves the snaps! I love the towels, such a pretty design! I can't wait to try the tequila mixes! Yum-o! Ed loved the chocolate, his favorite!

We're having an Indian Summer, It was almost 70 degrees today. Michigan's autumn colors are in full bloom, We walked in the woods to enjoy their splendor.
Joe has been home the last 2 weeks on leave. Tomorrow, his birthday, he flies back to Iraq. Won't be back home again until May, bummer.
A bit of brains, a couple eyes, All donated by a zombie named Billy, Nothings curls your toes on a cold autumn day, Like a batch of Brain Stew Chili!
Brain Stew Chili 1 Onion 1 Green Pepper 1lb Ground Beef 1 Can Red Kidney Beans 3 Cans Chili Beans 4 Cans Crushed Tomato with hot peppers 1 Jalapeno pepper Chili Powder Cayenne pepper Salt Pepper
• Brown beef with onion and green pepper. Drain grease. • Place beef, onion and green pepper in to a large pot. • Add canned goods, only drain the kidney bean juice. • Add Jalapeno pepper minced – leave seeds in. • Add spices as desired. • Heat on medium low for 2 hours, stirring every half hour.
On the sixteenth through eighteenth of October....
Our Friday night Halloween party wasn't ideal, As each new guest came, the sicker I began to feel, Not just me, but Ed and Angelus too, We've been couch ridden all weekend watching Scooby-Doo. Thank goodness, the plague is passing, Ah, I finally feel my spirits lifting!
I got all my ghosts in a row, For my annual Gathering of The Dead throw. Recipes are selected, games are conjured, Just two more days until the party is gathered!
One of my favorite books to read, Is a huge monstrosity called October Dreams, I've read it faithfully in October for the last several years, Yet, I fear, I've never reach the end before the end of my years.

2009 Halloween Costume Creation & Rehearsal. This was so easy. Took about 45 minutes. No sew, just used hot glue on the foam hat. Cost less than $10! Angelus is going trick or treating with his friend Trinity, who will be dressing up as Tinker Bell!

A stranger took post in our front yard, Frightening away spooks and protecting us from harm. To celebrate his arrival, We ran a muck, a muck, a muck with a Hocus Pocus revival!
At night his face glows green! This picture below is a classic from last year. I didn't dig the post hole deep enough and the scarecrow kept falling, Angelus would get so upset everytime!
The tenth of October started out great, With a tasty batch of Pumpkin Cream Pancakes. Learning a new form of divination was next, Ribbon reading was a fun subject. At the end night, terror held us in complete captivity, When we went to the movies and watch Paranormal Activity!
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg and melted butter; mix until smooth.
Filling: ½ cup of pumpkin 8 oz cream cheese 2 cups of powdered sugar
With a mixer combine the pumpkin butter, cream cheese and sugar.
-Pour the batter onto a hot, oiled frying pan and let the side brown for 10 seconds. -Scoop in a spoonful of the filling on the top and careful smooth around the center without going near the edges. -Pour more batter over the pancake filling, sealing it in. -Let the cook another 30 seconds, until the seal is formed, but before the bottom side burns. -Flip and brown the other side of the pancake. -Serve with more pumpkin cream on top.
On the eighth of October.... One of the greatest TV shows ever, Was a short lived dark feature called MillenniuM. Tonight I settled in with an apple fritter, piss-free coffee, And watched the episode: Somehow, Satan Got Behind Me.
If your into dark, psychological and supernatural stories, I suggest you run to the nearest video store and get seasons 1-3, or you can catch reruns on the Chiller channel.
On the seventh of October.... The Irving classic has enchanted our home, by book and screen, Ichabod Crane and his faithful steed Gunpowder race across the pages, While Disney and Tim Burton wheeled a double feature!
Tonight's Movie Food: Angry Pumpkin Heads Based on Raven's Samhain Bar recipe.
• Mix the eggs, sugar, oil and pumpkin. • Add the dry ingredients to the pumpkin mixture and mix at low speed until thoroughly combined and the batter is smooth. • Spread the batter into a greased 13 by 10-inch baking pan. Bake each for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. • Let cool completely before frosting. Cut into bars.
• To make the icing: Mix the cream cheese and butter. Add the sugar and mix at low speed until combined. Stir in the vanilla and mix again. Spread on cooled pumpkin bars.
